This Privacy Policy explains how Uicly Academy (“Uicly”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use uicly.com and related services (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
If you are a parent or legal guardian allowing a Minor (as defined below) to use the Services, you are responsible for the Minor’s information and activity as described herein.

This Policy is governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic, without prejudice to mandatory laws where you reside.

This Policy applies to personal information we collect as controller. For certain Instructor–Student interactions, we may act as a processor on behalf of Instructors (see Section 9).
3) Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide to us
- Account & profile: name, username, email, password, profile photo, bio, country, language.
- Purchases & billing: order history, course enrollments, coupons; payment method details are processed by our payment processors (we do not store full card numbers).
- Instructor onboarding: identity/KYC data, tax IDs, payout details (e.g., bank/PayPal), portfolio links, course metadata.
- Communications & support: messages, reviews, survey responses, support tickets.
- User content: posts, comments, assignments, uploaded files, live-session chat.
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Device/technical data: IP address, device identifiers, browser type, OS, settings.
- Usage data: pages viewed, features used, time stamps, clickstream, referral URLs, session duration.
- Cookies & similar technologies: see Cookies & Ads (Section 10).
3.3 Information from third parties
- Payment & fraud tools: confirmation of payment, chargeback notices, risk scores from [[Stripe/PayPal/Other]].

- Single sign-on (SSO) (if enabled): limited profile data from [[Google/Apple/etc.]] with your consent.

- Providing the Services (account creation, enrollments, course delivery, instructor payouts).

- Payments, billing & tax compliance (issuing receipts, ITBIS/other taxes when applicable).
- Legal bases: Legal obligation; Contract performance.
- Safety, security & fraud prevention (login integrity, abuse detection, chargeback handling).

- Customer support & communications (responding to requests, service notices).
- Legal bases: Contract performance; Legitimate interests.
- Improvement & analytics (debugging, measuring performance, developing new features).

- Marketing (newsletters, promotions, instructor highlights), subject to your preferences.

- Legal & compliance (enforcing Terms, handling DMCA, responding to lawful requests).

5) Minors; parental/guardian consent
- The Services are not directed to children under 13. Users under 13 may only access Courses through a parent/guardian account where the parent/guardian is the account holder and supervises all use.
- Users aged 13–17 (or until the age of majority in their region) may use the Services only with prior, express consent of a parent or legal guardian, who must review and accept the Terms & this Policy, remain responsible for the Minor’s activity/purchases, and supervise the Minor’s use.
- We may request reasonable evidence of consent and may suspend access if consent cannot be verified.
- Parents/guardians may exercise privacy rights on behalf of Minors by contacting [[privacy@uicly.com]].
6) How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share it as follows:
- Service providers/processors: hosting, CDN, storage, email delivery, analytics, customer support, KYC/AML, payment processing, video hosting (e.g., [[AWS/Cloudflare/Google Cloud/Vimeo/Wistia/Stripe/PayPal/HubSpot/Customer.io]]). Bound by contracts and confidentiality.
- Instructors ↔ Students: we may share limited data to enable enrollment, delivery, and support (e.g., name, email, course progress). Instructors must use such data only for course-related purposes and comply with applicable law (see Section 9).
- Affiliates/partners (if applicable): to attribute referrals/payments.
- Legal & safety: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, protect rights, prevent fraud or security issues.
- Corporate transactions: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality.
7) International transfers
We may process and store information in countries outside your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses, Data Processing Agreements) to protect international transfers. You may request a copy of relevant safeguards at [[privacy@uicly.com]].
8) Data retention
We keep information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described, including to meet legal, tax, accounting, and reporting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Illustrative examples:
- Account data: retained while your account is active; some records may be kept for [[X–Y years]] after closure for compliance.

- Marketing preferences: until you opt out or your account is deleted.

9) Roles & responsibilities (Instructor/Student data)
- Uicly as Controller: for platform operations (accounts, security, payments initiation, analytics, marketing).
- Uicly as Processor: when processing Student data on behalf of an Instructor within course tools (e.g., grading, messaging). We process such data only per Instructor instructions and applicable law.
- Instructors as Controllers: Instructors are independent controllers of any personal data they export or process outside the Platform (e.g., emailing Students off-platform). Instructors must provide their own privacy notices and comply with all applicable data-protection and marketing laws.
10) Cookies, analytics & ads
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, secure accounts, measure performance, and (where permitted) personalize content/ads.
- Types of cookies:
- Strictly necessary (required for login, cart, payments)
- Functional (preferences, localization)
- Performance/analytics (traffic, errors)
- Advertising (personalization/measurement—only with consent where required)
- Consent Management: We display a cookie banner and preferences center where required. You can manage settings there or in your browser. Refusing certain cookies may limit site functionality.

12) Marketing communications
You can manage email preferences in your account or by using unsubscribe links. Transactional emails (e.g., receipts, critical service notices) are not marketing and may still be sent.

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls, logging, backups). No method is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for using unique, strong passwords.
Incident response: If we become aware of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.
14) User content & community features
Content you post (reviews, comments, forum posts) may be public or visible to other Users. Do not share personal or sensitive information in public areas. We may moderate content for policy violations.
15) Third-party links
The Services may contain links to third-party sites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing personal information.
16) Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with the “Effective date” above and, for material changes, we may provide additional notice (e.g., email or in-product). Your continued use of the Services means you accept the updated Policy.
